Company History

Prime Product Manufacturing have also built up a R&D facility headed up by Sonja Steyn (Technical Director) and supported by a team of highly qualified and skilled chemists. They are passionate to try new ideas and create workable formulations incorporating customer&rsquos needs, technological advancements, and the right combination of raw materials and packaging to make a product or range best suited for the market.

Customer service, manufacturing delivery and overall quality of products are key driving forces behind our success. Often this involves tailor making the process for a customer and a product. The magic that has emerged, as PPM has matured, is that part of their focus on manufacturing & packing is on building the right machinery for the process and product. During the past few years, PPM&rsquos engineering team have custom designed and built 20 new machines and have adjusted many existing machines to suit manufacturing, product and packaging changes. Their hands-on style ensures that any down time is short lived, and no project can be limited by machinery

Prime Product Manufacturing employs approximately 300 staff in the Pelindaba plant. We have trained teams working in our various manufacturing, production, receiving, dispatch, quality assurance & control, research & development, finance and marketing facilities. Our management system is well established and encompasses a wealth of knowledge, and together with our staff and steadily developing facilities, Prime Product Manufacturing has strengthened and grown to become a leading contract manufacturing and packing facilities in South Africa. We are now focusing on expansion in Africa and into Europe and the USA.

Managing Director - Dr. Kaaiman Schutte

Prime Product Manufacturing was established in August 1997 as a wholly owned and managed South African company with  Dr. Kaaiman Schutte as Managing Director, Mr Mike Rigby as Commercial Director, Mr. Koos Basson as Technical Director and Mrs. Sonja Steyn as R&D Director. The company focused then, and still does, on the contract manufacturing and packing primarily of cosmetic and toiletry products for leading South African owned and multinational companies.

Since its beginning, PPM has grown to now service approximately 20 clients. Key areas of manufacture and development include suncare, skincare, bodycare and haircare. Some of our anchor customers are IncoLabs, Annique, Johnson & Johnson and Sh'Zen. Our ongoing intention is to add value to our customers in all aspects, from development to manufacture to delivery.

Over the years, PPM has aligned its company with various associations and suppliers, both in South Africa as well as in Europe and the USA. We are members of the CTFA (Cosmetic & Toiletry Association of South Africa) and Coschem (Society of Cosmetic Chemists) and make use of their global associations as well as local regulatory knowledge. Our raw materials and packaging comes from reliable and recognised suppliers with international affiliations, ensuring that all parts of the created product are researched and suitable for the product and the customer&rsquos needs. Our suppliers are a valuable information source with regards to product and ingredient performance, global trends and advancements in raw materials.

Prime Product Manufacturing have ensured that their manufacturing & packing practices, codes, facilities and policies are in line with local and international standards and comply with ISO 9001/2000. We built a specialised facility to accommodate the manufacture of sodium hypochlorite products. We also expanded our existing production facility in 2002/3 to include an aerosol facility, expanding our capacity to include aerosol filling, and becoming a member of the Aerosol Manufacturer&rsquos Association.
